A group of physicians is pushing back against the growing reliance on artificial intelligence in medical training, arguing that no algorithm can substitute for genuine human mentorship.

At one practice, Thursday mornings once reserved for a hospital’s Grand Rounds lecture series have been repurposed into informal mentorship sessions, giving staff space to discuss challenges, share experiences and support one another’s professional growth.

The physicians behind the initiative say the shift has strengthened team culture and, in turn, improved patient care, as staff feel better equipped to handle the pressures of their roles.

While acknowledging that AI tools have a place in medical education, the doctors argue that empathy, nuance and human connection remain irreplaceable in shaping the next generation of physicians.
