Dr. Toni Aubynn, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), has announced that Ghana has completed all necessary preparatory processes to begin establishing its ambitious Petroleum Hub in Jomoro, Western Region.
Speaking at an inter-agency dialogue in Accra, Dr. Aubynn emphasized the project’s transformative potential for Ghana’s energy sector and regional influence. “This hub, when fully operational, will not only change the face of our petroleum landscape but also position Ghana as a strategic energy and logistics gateway in West Africa,” he said.
The hub is designed to be more than just infrastructure, according to Dr. Aubynn. “It is more than just a collection of refineries, tank farms, pipelines, and ports; we are building the beating heart of energy transformation in the region,” he noted, describing the project as marking a new dawn in the continent’s energy evolution.
Beyond boosting Ghana’s energy capabilities, Dr. Aubynn highlighted the hub’s role as “a powerful engine for job creation, local capacity building, and long-term economic stability.” However, he stressed the need for continued collaboration among regulatory agencies, planning authorities, environmental bodies, security institutions, NGOs, and commercial actors to realize the project’s full potential.
