Libya’s National Oil Corporation Partners with Schlumberger to Revive Dormant Wells

Major technical collaboration aims to boost production capacity using advanced reservoir management
Libya’s National Oil Corporation has announced a significant partnership with Schlumberger Libya to reactivate shut-in oil wells and enhance field development across the country. NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman met with Schlumberger Libya CEO Mustafa Ajaj to finalize expanded cooperation agreements focusing on integrated solutions and cutting-edge technologies.
The collaboration will concentrate on boosting Libya’s production capacity through comprehensive reservoir management strategies and advanced technical solutions. Discussions highlighted Schlumberger’s crucial role in delivering tangible results through efficient resource management and subsurface expertise.
A key component of the partnership involves potential collaboration with Libya’s Oil Research Center, emphasizing knowledge transfer and technical training for local personnel. The agreement places special emphasis on operations in southern Libya, particularly at the Ubari site, where Schlumberger’s expertise in submersible pump technology and personnel training will be vital.
Suleiman stressed the importance of expanding Schlumberger’s operational presence throughout Libya while prioritizing the training of national technical teams. The partnership also includes commitments to social responsibility initiatives across the Wahat region, Oil Crescent, and southwestern Libya.
