BluEnergies and TotalEnergies are pressing on with an exploration work programme across Blocks LB-26, LB-30 and LB-31 in the Harper Basin offshore Liberia, with seismic reprocessing and seabed surveys running on schedule as the partners work to firm up drilling prospects.

The programme includes reprocessing about 6,167 square kilometres of 3D seismic data, a job being handled by TGS that BluEnergies says is now more than half complete. Separately, GeoPartners is running a seabed survey covering roughly 4,045 square kilometres in water depths of 500 to 3,500 metres aboard the R/V GYRE, operated by Texas-based TDI-Brooks.

The offshore campaign, which began on June 19, involves multibeam echo sounder mapping, seabed geochemical sampling and heat flow measurements aimed at sharpening the picture of basin-floor fan prospects. Data collection is due to wrap up in the third quarter of 2026, with results feeding into an updated seismic interpretation by year-end.

BluEnergies vice president of exploration, Sergio Laura, said the Harper Basin sits within the West Africa Transform Margin, a trend that has delivered major discoveries including Ghana’s Jubilee field, Namibia’s Venus find and recent successes offshore Côte d’Ivoire, reinforcing confidence in the basin’s potential.
