Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines has launched a fresh round of tenders for oil and gas exploration across several parts of the country, part of a continued push to grow domestic energy resources and cut reliance on imports.
The tenders span both onshore and offshore blocks, inviting local and international companies to bid on new exploration campaigns. Among the areas on offer are Atlantic offshore basins that have already shown promising signs of hydrocarbon potential, alongside several onshore basins with strong geological prospects.
ONHYM is offering favourable contract terms and a supportive regulatory backdrop to attract foreign investment into its upstream sector, with detailed geological and seismic data provided to help bidders evaluate the blocks. The move builds on recent successes, including gas finds by Chariot Energy in the Anchois field offshore Larache, and comes as Morocco balances a growing renewable energy push with continued hydrocarbon exploration as a pillar of its energy security strategy.
