AIM-listed Afentra is accelerating its growth push in Angola, advancing a drilling campaign at Block 3/05 while working to expand its offshore holdings, after a strategic review confirmed the company’s plan to remain an independent exploration and production player.

At Block 3/05, the 2026 infill drilling campaign is under way with the Pacassa SW well currently being drilled, with initial results expected in late July ahead of the planned Impala-2 development well. The two-well programme, financed by Sonangol, is targeted at adding roughly 9,000 barrels a day of production and unlocking more than 100 million barrels of recoverable resources.

Across Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A, Afentra is also ramping up water injection and upgrading infrastructure, aiming to lift injection rates to around 100,000 barrels a day in the second half of the year. The company expects to close its acquisition of additional interests in the two blocks from Etu Energias in the third quarter, boosting its working interests by 3.33 and 3.66 percent respectively.

Onshore, Afentra has completed geophysical surveys across its Kwanza Basin licences following the award of the KON 4 licence, with technical work also under way at KON 15 ahead of a planned 2D seismic survey later this year.
