TGS has initiated a large-scale multi-client 3D seismic project offshore Mauritania designed to support exploration across the country and the broader West African Atlantic margin. The Mauritania MegaSurvey covers over 100,000 square kilometers and integrates with TGS’s existing multi-client library in the region.
The comprehensive survey will produce a seamless dataset across Mauritania’s offshore areas, enabling full source-to-sink interpretation from nearshore to ultra-deepwater environments. The project provides continuity across multiple exploration plays, supporting basin screening, prospect maturation, and portfolio decision-making while underpinning transparent licensing processes.
“By integrating with broader West African sub-surface frameworks, the survey provides deeper insight into basin architecture and petroleum systems along the Atlantic margin. This regional perspective enables operators to assess Mauritania in the context of neighbouring proven and emerging basins,” said David Hajovsky, Head of Multi-Client at TGS.
The survey aims to give operators the technical confidence needed to evaluate investment opportunities offshore Mauritania, which has emerged as an increasingly attractive exploration frontier in West Africa.
