Independent energy company Vaalco Energy has commenced its 2025/2026 offshore drilling program in Gabon using Borr Drilling’s Norve jack-up rig. The campaign began with the spudding of the ET-15 infill well on the Etame platform.
The drilling program follows the replacement of the BW Offshore-owned FPSO Petroleo Nautipa with the FSO Teli as part of the Etame Marin field reconfiguration. The campaign includes multiple development, appraisal, and exploration wells, alongside planned workovers across the Etame, SEENT, and Ebouri platforms. The rig contract includes options for additional wells beyond the initial program.
Vaalco has operated offshore Gabon for more than two decades, with the Etame Marin block serving as a cornerstone asset in its African portfolio. The company also maintains upstream operations across West Africa, including in Equatorial Guinea, where it continues to pursue production optimization and growth opportunities.
