The National Oil Corporation has announced a new project aimed at improving the country’s ability to control oil and gas well fires, launching the program in cooperation with Waha Oil Company and the international firm Dynamic to enhance safety standards across Libya’s production sites.
According to the NOC, the project will be overseen by the Emergency Committee for Well Blowout Control, which will supervise efforts to enhance safety standards and raise protection levels across production sites. The corporation says the initiative is intended to strengthen safety procedures in oil fields, ensure the continuity of production, and improve the sector’s readiness to respond to emergencies to the highest standards.
The project reflects growing recognition of the importance of emergency preparedness in Libya’s oil sector, particularly given the country’s history of infrastructure damage and operational disruptions during periods of conflict and political instability.
