In a major breakthrough for South Sudan’s struggling economy, crude oil has finally reached the marine terminal in Port Sudan and is ready for export to global markets. This development ends a year of economic hardship following the loss of PETRONAS, which previously handled a significant portion of the country’s oil production.

“This is good news,” declared Mohammed Lino, Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum, during a high-level meeting between South Sudanese petroleum authorities and representatives from DPOC, GPOC, SPOC, and NilePet. “The crude oil from South Sudan has reached the marine terminal safely and is actually ready to export.”

The meeting reviewed oil transportation logistics, export procedures, legal frameworks, and fee structures to ensure smooth operations moving forward.

Mohammed Salah Osman, Chairperson of the Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, confirmed that preparations are already underway for the first shipment of South Sudanese crude oil to international markets.

Meanwhile, BAPCO reported that current oil flow stands at 110,000 barrels per day from Palm Station One in South Sudan, though officials warned that continued low flow rates could lead to operational challenges, particularly during winter months.
