Dozens of contruction workers in Lagos were arrested on Monday after they rioted against coronovirus lockdown measures in Africa’s biggest city. President Buhari later announced a phased and gradual easing of the lockdown in key cities on May 4th. In Ivory Coast, a new radio show broadcast via WhatsApp, is taking on the task to fight fake news. Its subscribers have the news sent straight to their phones. And finally Ramadan started this weekend for Senegal’s Muslims and the first Iftar meal to break the fast took place last Saturday night.  An important moment for the country’s 95% Muslims.
