The West El-Burullus (WEB) gas field, operated by Cheiron, has entered production following the connection of the first wells to Egypt’s national grid. Initial tests estimate production from the offshore Mediterranean field at around 45 million cubic feet per day, according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Badawi pointed out that work is being accelerated to connect two additional wells in the field, with the aim of raising total production to 75 million cubic feet per day by the beginning of 2026. Cheiron Energy operates the field through its joint venture with West El-Burullus Petroleum Company (Petroweb).

The development and production were carried out by Modern Drilling Company (MDC), Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (PETROJET), Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), and PICO ENERGY.

The production startup follows the completion of major offshore installation works by PMS, including the 255-ton PAPYRUS jacket, the 330-ton topside deck, and the WEB platform, which consists of a 345-ton jacket and a 431-ton topside.
