The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited has announced plans to achieve a production target of 2.06 million barrels per day in 2026, a significant increase that signals the country’s determination to reclaim its position as Africa’s top oil producer.

NNPCL Head of Field Operations for the Eastern Corridor, Akponime Omojevwhe, revealed that the corporation is building strategic partnerships with surveillance companies like Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited to meet this aggressive target. The budgeted benchmark sits at 1.84 million barrels per day, but officials believe the higher figure is achievable with continued cooperation.

Speaking at a December stakeholder meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Omojevwhe credited the cordial partnership between host communities and PINL for enabling unhindered production on the Trans Niger Pipeline. “With the kind of synergy we are seeing here in Bayelsa and other PINL coordinated areas, we can do it. If everybody comes together, it’s achievable and it’s realistic,” he stated.

PINL has pledged to advocate for increased development from government and international oil companies in host communities along the TNP. Dr. Akpos Mezeh, PINL’s General Manager for Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, emphasized that providing basic amenities and development projects would help reduce pipeline vandalism and oil theft by community members.

The surveillance company noted that it has become a critical interface between communities and the oil sector, with plans to push for greater government attention to community needs in 2026.
