Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company has secured a $273 million Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract to deliver a 193-kilometer natural gas pipeline project in Oman. The contract was announced during a meeting between Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Mansoor Ali Al-Abdali, Managing Director of OQ Gas Networks, reinforcing growing cooperation on natural gas infrastructure projects between Egyptian and Omani partners.
As part of this broader partnership, PETROJET will implement the first phase of OQ Gas Networks’ planned hydrogen pipeline network, undertaking 400 kilometers out of the project’s total 2,000-kilometer length at an estimated cost of $250 million. The company is also preparing to participate in upcoming green hydrogen and Natural Gas Liquids Extraction projects, drawing on its international experience and technical proficiency.
Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries and Egypt Gas are moving forward with registration on OQ Gas Networks’ Tawreed platform. Both companies are finalizing technical pre-qualification documents for gas pressure reduction stations at Duqm Refinery, targeting completion before the end of the year. ENPPI, which partners with OQ Gas Networks, Oman Tank Terminal Company, and Duqm Refinery, is listed among the main contenders for all forthcoming project tenders.
Discussions expanded on Egyptian companies’ engagement in Oman. In a separate session, Badawi and Mohsen Al-Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and Chairman of Petroleum Development Oman, reviewed PETROJET’s involvement in civil works and housing alongside five other firms under a new framework agreement. Other topics included Egyptian Drilling Company’s participation in well drilling and tenders, as well as Petroment’s plans to enter the market.
Badawi and Ghalib Al Maamari, Acting CEO of OQ Alternative Energy, explored avenues for joint efforts on energy efficiency and renewable energy applications within the ministry’s operational sites. Meetings with representatives of Hydrogen Oman Company and Oman Tank Terminal Company focused on expanding the footprint of Egyptian companies in oil, natural gas, green hydrogen, and ammonia projects, with particular emphasis on Salalah and Duqm.
PETROJET is actively contributing to the expansion of Duqm Refinery and pipeline construction in Ras Markaz, and is positioned for key roles in Oman’s emerging green hydrogen and ammonia ventures. ENPPI continues to play an integral role in engineering and project management, supporting large-scale energy and industrial development initiatives in the Sultanate.
