Perenco has successfully completed an enhanced oil recovery campaign at the Tchibouela East field offshore the Republic of the Congo, delivering a sustained production uplift of 6,000 barrels per day through a five-well infill drilling programme. The campaign employed advanced offshore drilling techniques — including horizontal and U-shaped wells — to maximise oil recovery while reducing operational risks at an asset that has been in production for nearly three decades.

“Tchibouela East has been in production for almost 30 years and we are pleased to help ensure that the field can produce for many more years to come,” said Perenco Congo Managing Director Gregoire de Courcelles.

Building on the success of Tchibouela East, Perenco has launched a new five-well drilling campaign at the Masseko field, designed to further increase production and test a new geological horizon — an initiative that could unlock additional reserves in an area not previously targeted.

Separately, Perenco completed construction earlier this year of a new platform serving the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo 2 field. The Kombi 2 platform is expected to recover approximately seven million cubic feet of gas per day and is designed to develop an additional 10 million barrels of reserves by optimising performance from existing wells. Together, these developments underscore Perenco’s active programme of field life extension and incremental production growth across its Congolese portfolio.
