Oando Plc, the indigenous energy firm that acquired Nigeria Agip Oil Company, has successfully completed repair works on ruptured pipelines following four operational oil spills recorded since October 2024.
The repairs addressed incidents along the NNPC Exploration and Production Ltd/Oando pipeline in Bayelsa State, including a May 3 spill around Oando’s Ogboinbiri flow station in Southern Ijaw LGA swamps. According to company spokesperson Alero Balogun, Oando implemented emergency response protocols immediately upon discovering each incident, including shutting in affected wells, deploying containment materials, and initiating recovery efforts.
“We are pleased to report that the repairs of the affected sections of the pipeline have been completed. To further mitigate the risk of future incidents, we are implementing a sectional replacement of the pipeline,” Balogun stated, emphasizing the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability in its host communities.
Joint Investigation Visits involving government regulatory agencies and community representatives were conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring proper oversight throughout the remediation process.
