Nigeria’s crude oil production in February 2025 dropped to an average of 1,465,006 barrels per day (BOPD), marking the lowest output in three months. Despite the decline, this figure remains 9% higher than the October 2024 production level of 1,333,000 BOPD, reflecting a continued recovery trend since November 2024.
The output decline was attributed to reduced production from key oil fields. Notably, First E&P’s Anyala/Madu fields experienced a sharp drop of 20,000 BOPD, decreasing from the 52,000 BOPD average over the preceding four months to 32,000 BOPD in February. Additionally, crude oil receipts at Shell’s Bonny Terminal fell by 33,000 BOPD, declining from 244,199 BOPD in January to 210,485 BOPD in February, with much of the loss attributed to fields operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
