Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdulsadiq, and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar have held bilateral talks aimed at enhancing cooperation across oil, gas, and energy — with Libya laying out an ambitious plan to raise national oil production to two million barrels per day and expand its gas export infrastructure, including the Greenstream pipeline connecting Libya to European markets via Italy.
According to the Hakomitna platform, the discussions focused on expanding strategic partnerships between the two governments, increasing investment opportunities in the Libyan energy sector, strengthening cooperation with international energy companies, and advancing participation in regional energy projects. Abdulsadiq emphasised the importance of deepening regional cooperation to address global challenges in the energy sector, while Bayraktar said that current global conditions require stronger international collaboration and investment in modern and sustainable infrastructure — while maintaining a balance between energy security and climate goals.
The two sides agreed on the strategic value of developing projects that combine conventional and renewable energy with modern technologies in ways that support regional energy security and sustainable economic development. The Greenstream gas pipeline, a key asset in Libya’s export infrastructure, was highlighted as a priority focus area for joint investment and development, reflecting shared interest in positioning Libya as a reliable and growing supplier of natural gas to European consumers.
