At the Vatican City, Pope Leo has issued a strong warning about the dangers of uncontrolled artificial intelligence development, urging governments around the world to introduce stricter regulations.

In a major public statement, the Pope expressed concern that advanced AI systems could spread misinformation, intensify global tensions, and eventually create technologies that surpass meaningful human oversight.

The statement reportedly highlighted fears surrounding autonomous weapons systems and rapidly evolving AI tools capable of operating beyond direct human control. Technology researchers and religious leaders attended the Vatican event discussing the issue.

Global conversations around AI regulation have intensified in recent months as governments and technology companies race to develop increasingly powerful systems. Critics fear regulation is not advancing quickly enough to match the pace of innovation.

Experts say the Pope’s remarks add significant moral and ethical weight to international debates surrounding artificial intelligence, particularly concerning privacy, security, employment, and the future role of human decision-making.
