Naples-headquartered Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has completed post-lay trenching operations at the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project (BGUP) offshore Libya, adding trenching to the range of services it offers to offshore energy clients and reinforcing its growth strategy through strategic industrial partnerships.
The Bouri Gas Utilisation Project is operated by Mellitah Oil and Gas Libyan Branch, a consortium formed by the National Oil Corporation of Libya and Eni North Africa. The trenching work was carried out by NextGeo’s subsidiary Rana Subsea as part of wider installation operations led by Saipem, with specialist trenching technology supplied by Pharos Offshore Group.
NextGeo described the initiative as reflective of its broader approach of combining in-house expertise with strategic industrial partnerships to enhance the value it delivers across the offshore services chain. The completion of the trenching assignment comes after Saipem confirmed it had lifted the gas recovery module for the BGUP, a key milestone in the Italian contractor’s engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning contract for the refurbishment of platforms and facilities at the Bouri gas field.
“With this initiative, we are reaffirming our ability to meet the highest industry standards in trenching as well — a new service now included in the range of solutions NextGeo offers its clients, including through collaboration with strategic partners,” said Alessandro Buffa, Chief Executive Officer of Rana Subsea. “At Rana Subsea, we are particularly proud to contribute, through our engineering and operational expertise, to strengthening the Group’s position in highly complex projects.”
