Namibia’s ReconAfrica Advances Kavango West Exploration Drilling

Reconnaissance Energy Africa has provided a positive drilling update on the Kavango West 1X exploration well that began drilling on July 31, 2025, with operations proceeding efficiently and safely according to schedule. The well is currently drilling the 8.5-inch section at approximately 1,910 meters depth, with the final casing string planned at around 2,400 meters before penetrating the primary Otavi reservoir zone in October.

Company President and CEO Brian Reinsborough expressed satisfaction with the operations team’s performance, noting that drilling remains on schedule with total depth expected by the end of November. The drill plan includes penetrating approximately 1,500 meters of potential reservoir section in the Otavi reservoir, the primary target for the Damara Fold Belt Play, before reaching total depth of 3,800-4,250 meters.

ReconAfrica plans to provide periodic drilling updates through news releases prior to releasing well results around year-end, marking a significant milestone for exploration in Namibia’s frontier Kavango basin.
