Nabors Industries, a leading global oil and gas drilling contractor, is expanding its operations in Libya to support the country’s oil production targets. As part of its commitment, Nabors is also investing in workforce development.
Speaking at the Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) 2025, Travis Purvis, Senior Vice President of Global Drilling Operations at Nabors, highlighted the company’s focus on safe operations, workforce training, and strategic partnerships.
“We have partnered with Assail Drilling Company, Libya’s largest drilling and work-over contractor, and we aim to play a crucial role in achieving the country’s two million barrels per day target,” Purvis stated.
He emphasized that safety remains a top priority for Nabors, with over 1,200 employees in Libya. As the company scales its operations, it is also collaborating closely with the National Oil Corporation and other operators in Libya.
Nabors, having recently resumed operations in Libya, is set to strengthen its presence by adding a third drilling rig to the Waha Oilfield in the Sirte Basin in 2025. The company sees platforms like LEES 2025 as essential in aligning industry stakeholders and fostering collaborative growth.
