Dubai-based marine and offshore services provider Drydocks World has been selected by Japan’s MODEC Management Services to carry out refurbishment and life extension works for the FPSO Baobab Ivoirien. The vessel, which previously operated at the Baobab field offshore Côte d’Ivoire, ceased production on January 31, 2025, to facilitate its transfer to Dubai for maintenance.

Drydocks World’s CEO, Capt. Rado Antolovic PhD, emphasized the company’s expertise in handling complex FPSO projects, stating, “Our track record in executing large-scale offshore engineering works positions us as the ideal partner to enhance the vessel’s longevity, efficiency, and operational safety.”

The eight-month project, set to commence in May 2025, will involve extensive structural enhancements, including 1,000 tons of steel renewal, 250,000 square meters of tank coating, and installation of 11,500 meters of new piping. The upgrade will extend the vessel’s operational lifespan by 15 years, ensuring continued energy production in West Africa.
