Mali’s military junta, which staged a coup last month, has agreed to an 18-month transition government. The coalition that led anti-government protests before the coup raised objections against a military interim president. Spokesperson Moussa Camara said the interim government would either be led by a military officer or a civilian. Leaders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which imposed economic sanctions after the coup, will meet to discuss the situation in Mali.
