Italian energy giant Eni is making significant progress on three offshore field developments in Libyan waters, according to a recent update from CEO Claudio Descalzi following high-level talks with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh.

The Sabratha Compression project, crucial for maintaining production levels at the offshore Bahr Essalam Field, is scheduled for completion by year-end. Meanwhile, the company expects to launch the Bouri Field gas utilization project in 2026. Most notably, drilling has commenced on wells for the Bahr Essalam Structures A&E oil and gas field development in offshore Area D, Block NC 141.

These developments coincide with Libya’s first international exploration and development bid round since 2017, which opened on March 3 and includes 11 offshore areas. Eni’s operations in the region are conducted through Mellitah Oil and Gas, a 50-50 joint venture with Libya’s National Oil Corporation.
