The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA on Thursday commenced the operational audit of Dana Air hours after the regulatory agency announced the suspension of the airline’s operating licence.
Meanwhile, passengers who have already booked their flight with the airline arrived the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two MMA2 early Thursday morning and received information of cancellation of the flights.
Some of the beleaguered passengers expressed their anger by touching the counters of the airline at the MMA2 terminal.
Giving update of the situation yesterday, Dana Air spokesmen, Kingsley Ezenwa told journalists that “We are pleased to announce that we have commenced the operational audit as advised by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and we are fully cooperating with the NCAA to ensure our quick return to flight operations.”
He explained that “the audit is also an opportunity for us to prove once again and reassure our guests, clients and partners that we remain strong, safe, efficient and reliable.”
Kingsley explained that “As an airline, we are not insulated from the multiple challenges airlines and the aviation industry is grappling with daily which includes the recent skyrocketing cost of aviation fuel at N830/ltr, unavailability of forex, Ground Handling services, inflation, multiple taxation amongst other operational challenges which airlines have made frantic efforts to communicate to the flying public and the government.
