Reflecting the growing interest in Namibia’s flourishing oil and gas sector, energy and marine consultancy ABL has announced the expansion of its operations within the country. This move aims to support the local oil and gas market while enhancing Namibia’s energy transition initiatives.
Anne Myers, ABL’s Country Manager for South Africa and Namibia, emphasized the significance of this development: “ABL has been actively involved in energy and marine projects in Namibia for over a decade. Establishing an official entity is a natural progression, reinforcing ABL’s commitment to supporting the country in achieving its energy objectives.”
Namibia has become a significant player in Africa’s energy landscape, particularly in oil and gas exploration, following several major offshore discoveries. Recently, Galp Energia announced a new discovery in the prolific Orange Basin with its Mopane-3X well. Additionally, Namibia is ambitiously investing in renewable energy, leveraging its extensive solar and wind resources to become a potential green hydrogen hub.
Donald MacMillan, ABL’s Regional Managing Director for the Middle East, North and South Africa, and India, stated, “ABL Namibia strengthens our long-standing presence in South Africa and marks another step in our expansion as a leading energy and marine consultant in Africa. We are eager to see the opportunities this new venture will bring.”
The newly established ABL Namibia will offer a full range of technical consulting services, including marine technical due diligence, rig inspections and movement, marine warranty surveys, and port consulting. Through its affiliate, renewable energy consultancy OWC, ABL Namibia will also enhance its expertise in energy transition and green energy consulting.
This expansion complements ABL’s presence across Africa, with offices in Egypt, the Republic of Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa, as well as consultancy operations in Algeria and Morocco.
