Eni has announced the start-up of Ndungu full-field production, part of the Agogo Integrated West Hub Project (IWH) in the western area of Block 15/06, offshore Angola — a milestone achieved in record time and marking another step in Angola’s rising deepwater output.

The project encompasses seven production wells and four injection wells, with an expected peak of 60,000 barrels of oil per day. The attainment of Ndungu full-field production, coming just six months after the Agogo FPSO achieved first oil, has been described by Eni as establishing a new standard for delivering deepwater projects at speed without compromising safety.

The phased integration of the Agogo IWH project — with Ndungu production flowing first via the N’goma FPSO before switching to the Agogo FPSO — is expected to ensure sustained long-term output from Block 15/06. Together, the Agogo and Ndungu fields are projected to reach a combined peak of approximately 175,000 barrels per day, meaningfully supporting Angola’s national petroleum objectives.

Agogo IWH is operated by Azule Energy — the joint venture equally owned by Eni and bp — with a 36.84% stake, alongside Sonangol E&P (36.84%) and Sinopec International (26.32%). Eni said the development exemplifies its low-carbon, fast-track model aimed at maximising value while minimising carbon emissions and time-to-market.
