Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the European Union’s Ambassador to Libya have held high-level discussions on expanding European investment in the country’s oil and gas sector, in a meeting that also touched on environmental stewardship and the shift toward cleaner energy.
NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman said his discussions with EU Ambassador Nicola Orlando addressed the importance of reducing pollution, protecting the environment, and promoting a shift toward clean energy as part of a shared responsibility to achieve sustainability. The talks also reviewed the NOC’s efforts to enhance integrity and transparency and to implement best practices in managing the sector, in ways that build confidence both locally and internationally.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation to serve mutual interests, strengthen Libya’s role as a key energy supplier in the region, and support efforts aimed at achieving economic stability and sustainable development, Suleiman said.
