Acting Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Alhaji Ibrahim Mammaga, assured staff of the agency of improved welfare to enhance productivity.
Mammaga, who is also the Editor-in-chief (EIC) of the agency, gave the assurance while addressing some of the agency’s staff in Kaduna Zonal Office.
He said that the management of the agency was doing all it can to ensure improved welfare for workers with a view to improve productivity.
“I assure you that things will get better. Just be patient and remain committed to your duties,” he said.
He commended the staff of the Kaduna Zonal Office for their dedication to duty and impressive productivity and urged them to do more.
He, however, advised reporters and editors to maintain the agency’s legacy of accuracy, timeliness and professionalism.
“Always ensure that your stories are accurate and factual, and deliver them as fast as you can for editors to process them and deliver quality reports to NAN subscribers.
“As a major content provider in the country, we cannot afford careless errors and unethical reportage. You must abide by the ethics of journalism profession.”
Mammaga explained that the visit was to appraise the situation in the states and zonal offices with a view to improve service delivery.
Responding, the Zonal Manager, NAN Kaduna, Mr Maharazu Ahmed, thanked the Acting MD for the visit, saying it would significantly encourage the staff to do better.
Ahmed assured the NAN boss of the zone’s commitment and dedication to duty, adding that the editorial staff would always abide by the NAN style and the ethics of the profession.
