Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria (FEPSAN) has called for adequate Budgetary Provision for effective implementation of Fertiliser Quality Control Act.
The President of FEPSAN, Mr Thomas Etuh, made the call at the public presentation of the National Fertiliser Quality Control Act 2019 on Tuesday in Abuja.
He urged various implementation committees to involve all stakeholders in fertiliser industry to ensure effective implementation.
Etuh who was represented by Saidu Zakaria, First Vice President of the association, expressed the group’s readiness to continue to supply good and quality fertilisers to the populace and develop the nation’s agricultural sector.
He assured of the association’s commitment to fighting hunger, and supplying of raw materials for industrialisation in the country.
The president who noted that FEPSAN was active in the formation of the bill, said that its members would remain active in the implementation of the Act.
Similarly, Kabiru Fara, President, Nigeria Agro-Input Dealers Association (NAIDA) urged Nigerians to ensure the workability of the Act.
He, however, assured of full support of the association toward Fertiliser Quality Control Act implementation.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that objectives of the Act was to safeguard the interest of farmers against nutrient deficiencies, adulteration, misleading claims and short weight.
It will also safeguard fertiliser enterprises and contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for private sector investment in the fertiliser industry among others. (NAN)
