Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has prophesised that the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, will be Nigeria’s president one day.
Wike has been in a cold war with leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, following his loss at the presidential primary election.
There have been speculations that the Rivers governor may be considering leaving the PDP following Atiku’s choice of the Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate against recommendation of a committee set up by the party.
Gana, who spoke, Friday, during the flag-off of a flyover in Obio/Akpor, Rivers state, urged the governor not to be weighed down by those who may have “disappointed” him recently.
The former minister, who praised Wike for projects executed in the state, noted that: “Your sustained emphasis on development projects has shown clearly that good governance is possible through good leadership.
“You have demonstrated the power of good leadership in delivering development projects to the people of Rivers state.
“Please, accept our congratulations on this kind of good leadership that performs. You have a bright future. I am not a prophet but you have a bright future.
“If some people have disappointed you this time around, don’t worry, your future is bright. Age is on your side. You will preside over Nigeria someday.”
Speaking further he said, “Let me now ask the good people of Rivers state, very wonderful people, to ensure that in the forthcoming elections you vote massively for the candidate of our party who is being supported by this performing governor so that they will be continuity; so that the good things he is doing here can be continued by the next set of people that are going to govern this place.
“Don’t make the mistake of throwing away your votes to another party. The PDP will never let you down. We shall do well, excel, perform, and be trustworthy.
“So, we plead with you in the forthcoming election to ensure that the candidates of our party are supported and elected.”
