The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) says the suspected COVID-19 case isolated at the hospital tested negative to the virus.
Prof. Mala Sandabe, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof. Mala Bukar-Sandabe, made the disclosure a a press conference on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
Sandabe disclosed that the results from the specimen taken from the suspected case for test at the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Abuja, came back negative.
He said the patient was discharged from the hospital but advised to isolate himself at home for a period of two weeks for further clinical observations.
The CMAC said the hospital has set up a 36-bed capacity isolation center provided with 50 diagnostic kits to enhance response to COVID-19.
He added that the hospital also set up a task force committee to work with the Borno State Government Response Committee to prevent spread of the pandemic in the state.
