Renewable projects to boost grid supply and attract investment

South Africa has approved four new solar photovoltaic projects totaling 890MW, reinforcing its push to expand renewable energy capacity and stabilize the national grid.

The projects, located in the Free State and Northern Cape provinces, are expected to be connected within 24 months. Government officials say the developments will attract billions in private investment, create jobs, and enhance long-term energy security.

Strong investor interest has been recorded, with bids far exceeding the capacity initially sought, underscoring confidence in South Africa’s renewable energy market.
