SHELL NIGERIA GAS POWERS UP INDUSTRIAL GROWTH WITH MAJOR STAKEHOLDER SUMMIT
Shell Nigeria Gas has intensified its push to revolutionize Nigeria’s industrial energy landscape, hosting over 100 major gas consumers in the Agbara Ota industrial zone of Ogun State in a strategic forum aimed at expanding natural gas distribution for power generation.
The premier gas distribution company, established in 1998 as a fully Shell-owned entity, currently operates an extensive 150-kilometer pipeline network across Abia, Rivers, and Ogun states, serving as a critical energy lifeline for Nigeria’s industrial sector.
The customer forum, themed “the Natural Gas Partner of Choice, Powering Nigeria,” brought together industry heavyweights, federal and state government officials, and leadership from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria to chart the future of industrial energy supply.
“Our commitment is to build, operate and maintain a gas distribution system that is not just reliable, but resilient, transparent, and growth-oriented, to support businesses, industries and ambitions,” declared Markus Hector, General Manager of Shell Energy Nigeria, emphasizing the company’s ambitious vision.
The government’s energy strategy took center stage when the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, represented by Gas Team Lead Lateef Biobaku, outlined Nigeria’s bold vision to unlock the nation’s energy potential and fuel economic diversification.
Nigeria has set aggressive targets to boost oil and gas production to 4 million barrels per day and 12 billion cubic feet of gas daily by 2030, positioning natural gas as a cornerstone of the country’s economic transformation strategy.
The forum featured three dynamic panel discussions covering the industrial zone’s future possibilities, Nigeria’s energy transition, and the revitalization of the country’s oil and gas sector.
SNG Managing Director Ralph Gbobo reflected on the successful engagement, promising continued service improvements to drive the remarkable growth already achieved through expanded gas distribution networks.
