Seplat Energy Plc has dramatically expanded Nigeria’s domestic gas capacity by installing over 850 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas infrastructure across the country, a major contribution to addressing the nation’s energy needs.

“Over the years, we’ve installed over 850MMscfd of gas infrastructure aimed at supplying domestic users across the country,” revealed Chief Operating Officer Samson Ezugworie during a Sunday press briefing, noting this figure excludes potential from recently acquired Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) assets.

The company is driving sustainability through technological interventions in Nigeria’s gas value chain with a structured End of Routine Flaring roadmap and investments in strategic facilities to reduce carbon emissions. The Sapele Integrated Gas Plant stands as a cornerstone of this effort, with its first module already operational and full capacity expected by 2025.

“At full capacity, the plant will significantly cut our Group’s Scope 1 emissions,” Ezugworie noted, adding that Seplat aims to end routine flaring across all onshore assets by the second half of 2025 through projects including Western Asset Flares Out, Oben LPG Project, Sapele LPG Facility, and Ohaji Flares Out Project.

Beyond infrastructure development, Seplat continues substantial social investments in education, health, and energy access, with 2024 initiatives including training 352 teachers through the Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme and benefiting 6,373 students via the Pearls Quiz competition.
