PT Pertamina Internasional EP carried out its first lifting of 1 million barrels of crude oil from Arzew Port, Oran, Algeria, to Indonesia on December 24, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international operations. The shipment represents the first production following the Production Sharing Contract extension for Block 405A, which aims to ensure Pertamina’s operational continuity in Algeria for the next 25 years to support national energy resilience.
PIEP President Director Syamsu Yudha emphasized the company’s commitment to strengthening national energy resilience through superior and sustainable operational practices in Algeria. The achievement follows the signing of a Lifting Service Contract between Pertamina and Sonatrach on December 22, 2025, at the Sonatrach Head Office. The signing was carried out by PAEP President Director Jon Erwin and Sonatrach’s VP of Commercialization, Mayouf Belgacem.
Pertamina’s commercial relationship with the Algerian state-owned company Sonatrach has been established since the 2002-2003 period through yearly contracts. The cooperation continued with spot transaction flexibility from 2006-2013 and entered a significant expansion phase since 2014 through the acquisition of management rights of Menzel Lejmat.
PIEP President Commissioner Dharmawan H. Samsu stated that the inaugural lifting reaffirms the strategic value of the Block 405A extension for the next 25 years, describing it as a significant achievement after an intense contract negotiation process. PAEP President Director Jon Erwin emphasized that the mutually beneficial cooperation with Sonatrach has provided a strong legal and operational foundation to optimize the potential of Block 405A.
