The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Zamfara state in the 2023 election, Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare, has faulted governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for banning all political activities in the state.
He stated this following the recent order given by the governor banning all political activities in the state Saturday .
Dr. Dauda who spoke through the deputy director of his campaign, Alhaji Faruk Shatiman Rijiya at a press briefing in Gusau Saturday said, no one can jeopardize or stop PDP from campaign in the state.
According to him, the order given by the governor does not affect their political party ,PDP, stressing that they will abide by the law which give mandate for the commencement of the campaign activities among all registered political parties in the country.
“Indeed the recent order given by the governor to us, has affected only APC not PDP and other registered political parties and we will continue all our activities no matter the pressure”. Dr. Dauda stated.
He challenged the governor to come out personally to tell the public not his commissioner.
” Matawalle should come out and address the state personally not to assign his commissioner on this issue and we have disregarded this order hence it’s politically motivated. ” Dr. Dare said.
“PDP in the state as a party has every legitimate right to participate in politics come 2023 and no amount of pressure by Matawalle’s administration can stop us from the commencement of our campaign soonest”.
He urged all members of the party and its supporters in the state to remain law abiding citizens and eschew any forms of thuggery or breaking law and order during campaign, elections and beyond .
