The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has activated a nationwide emergency hotline to combat fuel price exploitation, allowing Nigerians to report filling stations selling Premium Motor Spirit above the approved rate of ₦739 per litre. The toll-free number 0800 123 5264 went live this week, targeting over 2,000 MRS Oil Nigeria Plc stations across the country.
The move comes as the refinery ramps up its strategic intervention in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, guaranteeing daily output of 50 million litres to stabilize supply during the festive season. The initiative aims to ensure transparency and consumer protection while easing the financial burden on citizens.
Dangote Refinery issued a stern warning against unscrupulous operators attempting to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply chains to frustrate the price reduction. The company called on regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take decisive action against what it termed “unpatriotic practices” that undermine national economic interests.
“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling our hotline. Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer,” the refinery stated.
By refining locally at scale, Dangote Refinery is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports, conserving foreign exchange, stabilizing the Naira, and strengthening energy security. The initiative represents a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward sustainable energy solutions and economic recovery.
