The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has commissioned a new liquefied petroleum gas plant in Bauchi State in partnership with Butane Energy Limited, the third such facility under the partnership following earlier plants in Katsina and Kaduna states.
NCDMB Director of Corporate Services Abdulmalik Halilu, representing Executive Secretary Felix Omatsola Ogbe, said the plant supports the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas initiative and aims to tackle energy poverty across Northern Nigeria, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to strengthening domestic gas infrastructure under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010.
Butane Energy plant manager Boniface Bartholomew said the Bauchi facility holds 120-metric-tonne storage tanks, among the largest LPG capacities in the area, and is intended to serve the Bauchi metropolis and surrounding communities while working to eradicate the use of charcoal and firewood for cooking.
