In cooperation with SLB, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources organized the second workshop on the applications of Artificial Intelligence in oil and natural gas Exploration and Production. The event brought together senior petroleum sector officials, including Ehab Ragaee, First Undersecretary for Production Affairs at the Ministry, Mohamed Radwan, Vice Chairman of South Valley Egyptian Holding Company for Petroleum for Agreements and Exploration, and several chairmen of oil and gas companies, exploration managers, and representatives of foreign partners.
The workshop aimed to exchange experiences and successful practices in implementing AI to enhance the efficiency of exploration and production operations. Discussions highlighted successful AI trials in both international and local production companies operating within the Egyptian sector, showcasing the latest digital transformation solutions and AI applications that focus on improving production rates and maximizing added value from petroleum resources.
Practical demonstrations were provided for AI applications executed by international and Egyptian production companies in collaboration with SLB. These applications demonstrated tangible results, including cost reduction, increased production, and accelerated decision-making processes.
Sherif Bayoumi, SLB’s Chairman and Managing Director in Egypt, stated that AI contributes directly to cost reduction and opens new production horizons in the petroleum sector. He emphasized that the event underscores the strength of the partnership in converting technology into tangible value, confirming that AI applications are boundless.
The Ministry of Petroleum and SLB previously organized a joint workshop that focused on carbon reduction and limiting methane emissions in the petroleum sector in January.
