The Exploration Department of Libya’s National Oil Corporation has discussed exploration activity programs with a consortium of Eni, BP, and the Libyan Investment Authority for 2025, as well as proposed work for 2026 in the onshore and offshore areas of the Ghadames and Sirte Basins.

The expanded technical meeting in Tripoli was attended by the Director of the NOC Exploration Department and his counterparts from the two companies, along with representatives from the Libyan Investment Authority and specialists from relevant entities.

During the meeting, the consortium confirmed the drilling of an exploratory well this year in the Ghadames Basin, with plans to drill two new exploratory wells next year, one in the Ghadames Basin and the other in the offshore area of the Sirte Basin. This reflects the NOC’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and developing national capabilities in oil exploration to support Libya’s energy future.
