Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, met on Tuesday with a high-level delegation from American energy giant Chevron to discuss plans to expand the company’s activities in Libya, spanning oil exploration to renewable energy and the transfer of technical expertise. The meeting, attended by Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdul Sadiq and Chairman of the National Oil Corporation Masoud Suleiman, included senior Chevron executives such as Vice President of Business Development Frank Mount, General Manager of Operations Joel Koch, Director of Operations in High-Risk Environments Daniel Heap, and Senior Engineering and Operations Manager Kenneth Davis.
Dbeibah reaffirmed the Government of National Unity’s commitment to creating a stable and secure investment environment that enables major international companies to return to Libya and resume their activities. He praised the National Oil Corporation’s pivotal role in attracting investment and developing the sector’s infrastructure.
Chevron representatives expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Libya and expand investments in the oil and gas sector, emphasizing that current operating conditions represent an important opportunity for the company to contribute to the development of Libyan fields and support efforts to increase production and promote economic development. Chevron is one of the largest energy companies globally, with a market capitalization exceeding $260 billion, employing more than 45,000 people in over 50 countries, and ranking among the top five global oil companies in terms of production and annual revenues exceeding $200 billion.
