ExxonMobil has awarded a major engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract to the Subsea Integration Alliance — the partnership between Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea — for a subsea tie-back development at Block 15 offshore Angola, in a deal valued between $150 million and $300 million.
The contract covers the Redevelopment 2.0 Likembe Project, a deepwater tie-back initiative designed to extract additional production from one of Angola’s most established offshore areas. Under the integrated delivery model, Subsea7 will lead project engineering and installation, while SLB OneSubsea will manufacture and supply the umbilical scope from its Centre of Excellence in Moss, Norway. Engineering and project management teams will operate across Subsea7’s offices in Paris, Luanda, Lisbon, and Sutton.
Subsea Integration Alliance CEO Olivier Blaringhem said the award deepens the alliance’s relationship with ExxonMobil and highlights the commercial advantage of early-stage collaboration. “This award further strengthens our relationship with ExxonMobil. It demonstrates how early collaboration through Subsea Integration Alliance enables an optimised development solution and underpins our integrated commercial model,” he said.
David Bertin, Subsea7’s Senior Vice President for Global Projects Centre East, said the project builds on the company’s strong track record across West Africa, Australia, and the US. “Together with ExxonMobil, we are committed to delivering the project safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, while continuing to support the development of local capabilities in Angola,” he said.
The contract underlines the continued appetite among operators to pursue incremental production through subsea tie-backs in mature West African deepwater provinces, as asset life extension strategies take priority over greenfield development in a capital-disciplined environment.
