Emadeb Petroleum has officially announced the achievement of first oil from the Ibom Field development project, marking a major milestone for indigenous participation in Nigeria’s upstream sector. The field, located in the Niger Delta basin, is part of the company’s strategic plan to expand local content contributions while strengthening domestic crude supply capacity. According to the company, initial production levels have exceeded early estimates, demonstrating the commercial viability of the asset.

In a statement, the management emphasized that the Ibom Field’s successful commissioning represents a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s marginal field development framework. The project which was executed with significant partnerships from local technical service companies highlights the growing capability of Nigerian operators to independently manage complex drilling, reservoir operations, and production optimization.

Emadeb further disclosed that it is on track to triple production by 2026, supported by an aggressive well-drilling campaign and the planned deployment of enhanced oil recovery technologies. The company is also finalizing new infrastructure investments aimed at reducing gas flaring, improving storage capacity, and strengthening crude evacuation systems.

Industry analysts say the Ibom Field’s output will play a meaningful role in supporting Nigeria’s crude supply obligations, especially as the country works toward stabilizing production around the 1.7 million bpd target. The project also serves as a pathway for other indigenous operators seeking to expand their operational footprint.

With first oil now achieved, Emadeb Petroleum is positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing indigenous upstream firms. The organization reiterated its commitment to operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and continued investment in host community development programs.
