Burullus Gas Company plans to lift gas output from some of its wells by 40 to 60 million cubic feet a day starting in September, using acid stimulation — a well-intervention technique that pumps acid into the reservoir to improve gas flow — the company’s chairman, Mohamed Deghidy, told a meeting of senior gas industry officials.
The meeting, which included Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company executive managing director Sayed Selim, also reviewed preparations to bring the West Mina gas development in the Mediterranean online in early December. The project is expected to add 160 million cubic feet of gas a day and 3,000 barrels a day of condensate; its first well, Mina West-1, already reached initial production of 45 million cubic feet a day of gas and around 1,000 barrels a day of condensate in June, with the Mina West-2 well set to begin soon.
Officials also discussed reconnecting the Sepia Da well to production using corrosion-resistant, high-pressure Thermoplastic Composite Pipe technology, along with progress on a 4D seismic survey aimed at identifying new production opportunities in high-pressure, high-temperature reservoirs. Selim directed the company to adopt more flexible mechanisms to speed up upcoming developments, particularly Phase 12A, due to start production in early 2028.
