Mpumalanga police arrested a 37-year-old man and confiscated R3.8 million worth of illicit goods at the Lebombo border post on Saturday.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a truck aroused police officers’ suspicion.
“The truck was coming from Mozambique into the country and the members then conducted a search where they discovered various brands of sneakers [stashed] inside,” he added.
The man was arrested and charged with the possession of counterfeit goods, Mohlala said.
He is expected to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The truck, which is worth about R3.5 million, was reportedly confiscated on the basis that it was allegedly used in the commission of crime.
