Transport minister Ricardo D`Abreu announced last week, in Luanda, that the country will launch an international public tender, with a view to identifying the most suitable partner to manage, with the best international practices, the Dr.António International Airport Agostinho Neto.

When speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new airport, the government official said that improved management practices are secured, “whether in terms of the experience of passengers who pass through here, or in terms of logistics – through the movement of cargo from Angola to the world, promoting exports, and from the world to the country and our continent”.

He pointed out that commitment and professionalism must remain the line of work so that, soon, the real effects of the airport can be identified and felt, with more jobs, roads and railways, as well as greater mobility and greater social well-being.

He indicated that more air traffic is expected from abroad, not only to do business and implement business projects, but also to discover and enjoy all the tourist attractions, infrastructure and services that are already emerging in several provinces of the country.

He made it known that engagement is also in the qualification and diversification of human capital, one of the main focuses of the entire strategy and reforms being developed in the civil aviation sector.

“We want to build an ecosystem for civil aviation here soon, in which the key pillar is the Angolan Civil Aviation Academy, which already has facilities in this area”, he disclosed.

He informed that other opportunities are opening up in terms of aeronautical engineering, maintenance and various support services, as well as the future development of the Airport City, duly framed in the Airport General Plan.

Being a transgenerational work, foreseen to have a 100 years timeline, Ricardo d`Abreu appealed to all players in society and politics to preserve this common good, denouncing all forms of sabotage and vandalism of public assets.

The new airport was designed to be a Connecting Hub with domestic, regional and international links.
