Dubai-based AMEA Power has partnered with the Egyptian government to develop a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) with a total capacity of 1,500MWh. The project will see 500MWh deployed in Zafarana and 1,000MWh in Benban, enhancing grid stability and boosting renewable energy integration.
AMEA Power Chairman Hussain Al Nowais emphasized that the initiative will accelerate Egypt’s transition to clean energy, contribute to decarbonization, and create economic opportunities.
The company has already invested $3 billion in Egypt, supporting the development of 2,500MW of wind power and 2,400MW of solar power projects, further cementing its role in the country’s energy transformation.
