The Exploration Department of Libya’s National Oil Corporation held an expanded technical meeting with officials from the Algerian company Sonatrach as part of the NOC’s annual meetings with participating foreign companies, discussing the completion of exploration commitments and future drilling plans.
The meeting, held in Tripoli, discussed Sonatrach’s work completed during 2025, including updates on re-entering the A1-96/2 exploration well and plans to drill four appraisal wells in Contract Areas 95/1 and 96/1. Sonatrach confirmed its commitment to fulfilling its exploration obligations by drilling two additional wells.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the NOC’s Exploration Department, the General Manager of Sonatrach and his deputy, and a number of specialists and technicians from both sides, in addition to representatives from Indian companies via videoconference. The collaboration demonstrates continued international interest in Libya’s petroleum sector despite ongoing political challenges.
